MISSION VENTURE FUND
MINISTRY STARTUPS IN HARD PLACES
BRINGING TOGETHER VISIONARIES AND MISSION ENTREPRENEURS
When you travel to Africa, Asia, Middle East, or Latin America, you will likely meet some exceptional people. Exceptional for their wealth of hospitality. Their creativity and ingenuity in solving problems. Their capacity to believe. They are unsung heroes.
Philanthropy typically favors international organizations in safer contexts while overlooking entrepreneurs who struggle to access capital and coaching. In other words, capital lacks courage. As a result, thousands of social and spiritual entrepreneurs, if not tens of thousands, are overlooked and underfunded.
It is only expected to get worse. Resource scarcity, income inequality, political polarization, human displacement, and ethnic divisions are on the rise, creating a world that is even “more contested, uncertain, and conflict prone.” Yet there are hundreds of ministry startups serving thousands of people in some of the most challenging places in the world. The Mission Venture Fund brings together visionaries with spiritual and social entrepreneurs to strengthen and scale these startups. We believe seed-funding, strengthening and scaling mission ventures can unleash exponential impact throughout the world.

“We only need to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.”

HOW THE MISSION VENTURE FUND WORKS
-
Leveraging an extensive global network, the Mission Venture Fund team curates a portfolio of mission startups for potential partnership.
Mission ventures will be presented for consideration during an annual Partner Gathering.
-
Grants are awarded to mission ventures, ranging between $75,000 and $150,000 over a three year period.
Partners are invited to support mission ventures over a period of three years, with options to renew.
-
A team accompanies each mission venture, facilitating context-relevant support in specific areas, such as innovation and strategy; pacing and growth; organizational resilience, resource diversification, and financial sustainability.
Partners join quarterly video calls to discuss progress, pray together, and engage with mission entrepreneurs.
